Orford is one of the most characteristic small towns to be found in the AONB. The top of Orford castle provides a stunning view of the town, the River Ore, Orford Ness and the sea. The small quay on the river provides a link to the Orfordness peninsula, which cuts off Orford from direct access to the sea, and to Havergate island, an RSPB nature reserve.
