SDF funded SEEN competition launched in primary schools!

Be SEEN getting closer to nature - ‘My Perfect Day Exploring Outdoors’ competition

Do you know or work with children who love being outdoors?  With the autumn half term holidays upon us, why not encourage them to get outside to explore nature and participate in a competition being run by the Suffolk Environmental Education Network (SEEN).  The eight winning entrants and their classes will enjoy an inspiring day out at a SEEN member site such as RSPB Minsmere, Dunwich Museum and Greyfriars, or a Wild Beach day at Landguard.

The SEEN partnership of ten organisations offers a one-stop-shop for teachers to demonstrate the quality of facilities available here in Suffolk.  With funding from the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), SEEN wants to encourage schools to provide outdoor learning opportunities for 7-11 year olds and enable children and families to connect with their local landscape.

The ‘My Perfect Day Exploring Outdoors’ competition invites children in Suffolk’s primary schools and academies to produce an exciting electronic newsletter about their perfect day (real or imagined!) exploring outdoors – perhaps discovering the local woods or getting closer to nature on the beach.

Entries should be emailed to Schaonb@suffolk.gov.uk by the closing date of Wednesday 6th November so if your children are mad about mud, fascinated by farms or inspired by the burial site at Sutton Hoo, visit www.seen.org.uk for full competition details and more about SEEN.
