Suffolk Coast and Heaths
Getting around
The Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, like many remote parts of the UK, is less easily accessible than more urban areas. However, although using a car might seem like the most straight forward way to visit the area, it is far from the best way to experience this special landscape and what it has to offer. It's also worth considering that car usage has had a detrimental impact on the AONB, just as elsewhere in our countryside, causing pollution and undermining the sense of tranquility for which the Suffolk Coast and Heaths is greatly valued.
By far the best way to get around in the AONB is on foot, by bicycle or on horse back. Not only do these methods of transport have the least damaging impact on the AONB, but they allow you to experience its sights and sounds to the full. While they may not be practical for everyone, walking and cycling can, particularly when combined with public transport, allow you to visit and enjoy the Suffolk Coast and Heaths in a sustainable way as well as seeing it at its best!
This area of our site will be developed to include up to date information about sustainable transport options in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths.
