As COP26 came to a close, Suffolk celebrated the people and organisations making the biggest environmental difference in the county.

An innovative food recycling company, a nature reserve and the county’s Tree Warden Network were among those collecting awards at The Hold in Ipswich on Friday 12th November.

Attendees were also treated to a keynote speech from Emeritus Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, Tim O’Riordan OBE, alongside a video address from Lord Deben who was at COP26. There were seven categories and the Derek Moore award for lifetime achievement.

The winners were:

– Enhancing Biodiversity and Landscape Award: Suffolk Wildlife Trust Carlton Marshes 
– Greenest Community Award: The Suffolk Tree Warden Network
– Greenest School Award sponsored by Suffolk Group Holdings Ltd: Alde Valley Academy
– Greenest Business Award: Precision
– Greenest Small Business Award: Skyview Systems
– Waste Reduction and Recycling Award: Still Good Food
– Green Hero Award: Debbie Bartlett (achieving over 1,000 public votes)
– Derek Moore Award, awarded by Suffolk County Council in recognition of outstanding service to Suffolk’s environment: Steve Piotrowski
